February Wrap-Up

We sent 260 packages (over 780 books) to incarcerated readers this month! Our volunteers have consistently shown up every Sunday to put in major work to get these packages out in a timely manner. We couldn’t do it without them!

We had a number of donations of Black authors in honor of Black History Month, including this much needed collection of urban fiction sent to us all the way from Maryland! February may be over, but we are in constant need of Black authors and stories, so please consider donating your new or gently used paperbacks during any of our Sunday book packing parties.

  1. I’m an author who forwarded, via Mascot Publishers, copies of my. latest novel, ‘Leaving Gary’ to you. An angry wannabe boxer ends up in Indidana State Prison and changes his life upon release, becoming a world heavyweight.

I worked in Riker’s Island for a spell, concentrating on getting young inmates into our GED program.

I applaud this organization’s reach out to the general public. I wish you continued success. Kindly stay in touch. All the best!
